Question:
I'm 5-weeks post op and it seems as though my incision is healing....
....just fine, but I'm having a lot of discomfort/pain in that area. I can't really pinpoint what it could be, it's not neccesarility the incision that is causing me the discomfort but rather on the inside behind the incision. It's hard to explain. Also...my tummy area is always VERY warm. What's all this mean and is it normal? Also, I only urinate about 3 times a day and have a bowel movement maybe once a week. Normal? (I drink water and liquids all day) — Kim L. (posted on May 14, 2003)

I am 7 weeks post op and be honest about the water....keep a journal...I
still have yet to have a "good pee" or the feeling of really
needing to go. So I began journaling my water intake...I realized I was not
getting in the amount I "thought" I was drinking.
I also had the "old constipation" thingy going to...so for one of
my waters I did 3 parts water and 1 part prune juice...It really helped
me.
I healed rather quickly also...and major discomfort...sometimes to intense
itching...and yes my skin felt a little warm. My Dr. told me as long as it
wasn't red and angry looking it would be fine...but it is always best to
check....either make a call or a visit to your Dr. Good Luck....and keep
on keepin on! :)

Kim, I am having the exact same problem. I'm a little over 6 weeks
post-op, but it start at about 5 weeks. The pain is right behind the top
portion of my incision. It creates such a sharp pinch at times that it
almost give a burning sensation. It makes it hard to bend over, lay down,
or do any movement where I use my upper body strength to situate myself.
Does this sound like your problem? I'm sorry to say I have no idea what it
is...my Dr's assistant said that it is probably pain from the muscles and
incision healing on the inside. Of all things, she told me to take Advil.
Now, I know better than that, so I'm anxious to see what others may say to
you or how they suggest making if feel better. Thanks for posting this!

Yes Renee, that's exactly what's happening to me. Now...my understanding
is that we aren't supposed to take anything other than Tylenol. It's kind
of interesting how different doctors are. :) I have an appt. on Monday
with my surgeon; I have SOOOO many questions for him. :)

Please keep us posted as to what your doctor says. I'm very interested to
see another doctor's side to it. If mine continues I will be setting up an
appointment with my surgeon as well (since I've only talked to the
assistant about it so far). I wish you much luck!
