Question:
Any slow losers out there who had surgery July 2002?

I had surgery July 29, 2002 and have only lost 80 pounds. For the past month, the scales haven't moved at all. I am trying all the things that I read on here, but like most people I'm terrified I won't lose any more. Has anyone else experienced very slow loss? I need to lose about 35 more pounds to get to my doctor's goal weight and 40 to get to my own goal weight.    — Lisa D. (posted on March 20, 2003)

I know how you feel. I had surgery July 2002 and even though I have lost alot, I still feel I will never make it. You will make it, and I will too. It just slows down when we get so close to being through. I have 60 more pounds to lose. You will lose it. Some people told me to change my exercise, and my diet. To eat 1000 calories one day, and 1200 the next. Maybe that would help you. Hang in there, you will make it. I know it is hard to wait but it will all be worth it!!

I had surgery 7/18/2002 am down 109lbs. I have not been doing well at all... I know it's carbs, and I am trying to cut them out but it's so hard... I need to deal with some issues or i'll stay here forever...

I also had surgery on 7/29/02 - I am down 94 pounds - losing very slowly. I know that do not watch it perfect - and probably don't excercise as much as I could - but I'm ok with it all. I still have about 50 more pounds to go - but I figure - the weather will be improving and I'll try to get out and walk more. Good luck and don't get yourself down - you are doing great. I also have a thyroid issue so I sometimes think that is not helping even though i take my medication. Good luck

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had surgery July 12 and have lost 67.5 to date. The last two months I have lost 3 pounds. It is very discouraging. I have again started to use fitday and am now getting up early every morning to walk and try to walk or ride my bike at night. I am grateful for the weight i have lost but am scared it is over for me. I have 21.5 ponds to my DR. goal and 42.5 for my own personal goal. I hope I can make it. You can email me if you want and we can use each other for support. I just keep on trying. I really did not figure it would be this hard but I am now doing a leniant form of Atkins to see if that helps. Best of Luck Lynne

I had surgery 7/31/02 and have lost 105 so far. I have about 20-25 to go. I thought I was doing great til I read this!! Aren't we supposed to lose for 12-18 mos? I stay under 1200 cals a day, get in all my protein, water and supps, and just started Leslie's walking tapes -- 2 miles 6 times a week. The scale moves much slower than it did, but as long as it's going down, I figure I'll get there eventually?

July 22, 2002 and down 130 pounds...BUT I started at 424 pounds so I still have another 70 to 80 pounds to go to get down to an "ideal" weight...only another 40 to go to get to MY goal weight. Keep plugging along - 80 pounds is excellent and you should rejoice!

Feel good about the loss. My surgery failed and I quit losing weight in December. I had my surgery june, 2002. I've only lost a little bit.

You sound just like I feel. You are not alone. I had my surgery on 7/31 and am in the same range as you. I started at 257/surgery at 243/currently 170-171. I have done really well for the last 2 weeks and today I blew it big time. I ate cookies galore. DUH!. Well back on it for the rest of today and I'm going to try to excercise the cookies away But dammit why did i do this when I was doing so well. I had finally broken my nearly 2 month self inmposed(bad habit) plateau. My whining is absolute truth and fact and I'm venting and sharing because hopefully you will see that we are all very much in the same boat. My surgeon told me that the first 60% will litterally "fall off" but then I would have to work hard for the rest of it. I am trying to be committed and apparently now is the hard part. It seems Dr. Singh was 100% accurat in my case. Best of luck to you and to all of us. Penny :-) 7/31/02 LAP RNY 257/170/??? 5 ft 3 inch
