Question:
Are Nutri System & Nutritionist considered medicallly supervised?

I am wondering if NutriSystem or seeing a Nutrionist are considered Medically supervised? Nutri System was run by an RN, and we had to check in each week and get out Blood Pressure Taken. The Nutritionist was licensed?    — PammieC (posted on February 21, 2003)

If you have Aetna Insurance it won't be considered enough. You must have a nutritionist in conjuction with your primary care physican supervising. I hope this helps.

It's almost impossible to answer your question because of the many different things that insurance companies require. Even the same company will often have different requirements depending on your employer and what state you live in. The best thing to do is call the customer service folks at your insurance company and ask. Your surgeon may also know, since they have to deal with a variety of different insurance policies.
