Question:
if supervised diets rom Dr. are from 6 yrs. ago would ins. accept this?
My doctor supervised records are from 1995-96 all the others were on my own or jenny craig or weigh watchers will ins. accept this for my 12 month supervised diets? I called ins. comp. they told me needed documentation for 12 months but didnt tell me any time period. Any info. will help me. THANX — Kelliann S. (posted on October 6, 2002)

Mine did. supervised doesn't necessarily mean medical doctor supervised
unless it specifically stated it. So Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and the
like are supervised. The only documentation I put was the name and date of
the program. (insurance is federal Mail Handlers)

I worried about the same thing. I did Wt. Watchers, Jenny Craig, shots by
several different docs that I forgot their names, diets from books, gyms,
etc. and my insurance (United HealthCare) accepted it. When they take the
picture and send it in + your weight...they usually know that we have tried
everything. Good luck

I am very worried about just this thing. I've been on many diets. but not
supervised. because mainly I couldn't afford it.The doctor once presrcibed
diet pills but when I went to get it. the drug store said my ins wouldn't
cover it. so that was the end of that. But though the years on my records
at the doctors they have my many weight gains. until I passed 350 lbs then
it said 350 plus. A lot my Dr.s would tell you to lose weight and hand me
diet sheets to follow. and send you on your way. I don't know what will
happen my appt for wls consultation is 10/16. I have everything they said
bring even my 400 lbs. By the way my insurance co gave me this doctor Im
going to see.
