Question:
I am making Lasagna Roll ups seen on Rachel Raey's 30 minute meals
Hi, I am making lasagna roll ups for dinner tonight. I have adapted the recipe after seeing it on 30 minute meals on food tv (I love that show). I was wondering, if I gave the recipe, if someone could give me an approximate protein count. So here goes... I made the filling with chopped mushroom stems, chopped garlic, ground low fat sausage, ricotta cheese (part skim), mozarella cheese, and chopped spinach(for extra iron, I am anemic), as well as pepper and Italian seasoning for added flavor (a touch of salt too, but I really don't use a lot of it, since I have never been a big salt fan, and I want to keep my sodium down as well {makes it easy since I don't really like overly salty foods}. I will cook the lasagna noodles, then fill with the mixture, roll and top with a gargonzola cheese sause (made with chicken stock, half and half, and gargonzola cheese) and then broil quickly after topping with a tad more mozarella cheese. I am trying to up the protein intake. The ricotta cheese alone has 8grms per serving and I thought with adding the sausage, and gargonzola cheese sauce that it would up it a little more. I used half and half instead of heavy whipping cream to lower the fat intake. I was wondering if anyone could give me an approximate protein count on this recipe. I normally eat tons of fish (mainly shrimp and scallops) and chicken to keep my protein levels up, but my daughter wants pasta tonight, so I though I would try this. Any ideas??? — enjo4 (posted on August 11, 2002)

Hi, I think there are some web sites that will calculate things like that.
I know there are some software available - I used to have a recipe software
that you could add your own recipes to. The software is pretty cheap-about
$15. I agree with the previous poster - that sounds delicious and would
love to have that recipe!

If you go to Fitday.com and log in each ingredient, you can get the EXACT
nutritional breakdown. It will take you a little time, but I use this
program daily for my food intake and it's GREAT -- free tOo!

If you go to foodtv.com and click 30min meals, you can print the recipe if
you want. I go there all the time looking for new food ideas.

I LOVE Racheal Ray and her 30-Minute Meal program on the Food network.
Just as someone else suggested, ALL the recipes from the Food Network are
avaialble online. It's so ironic that I'm hooked on this show now that I'm
almost nine months post op and can't eat hardly any of the food she
prepares, but the feeling of contentment I receive just from watching this
woman cook is amazing. This is my one must-see show as soon as I get home
from work every evening. What a great cook she is..........
