Question:
With Aetna PPO in Texas, should I be expecting a long fight?
My current ins. WILL NOT cover WLS so I am considering a job change to one with Aetna PPO. I have seen on their web site that you must be 40+BMI and failed a 6mo. med. supervised program in the last 2 yrs. I am 5'4" 40 BMI, boarderline Diabetic with a family history of diabetes and HBP....on a supervised program now....any thoughts??? — Jenn J. (posted on June 20, 2002)

GIRL! you do not even know!!!! Aetna is AWESOME! I have AETNA HMO which
is not as good as PPO from what I have heard. They approved me in 6
days!!! You will have no problem. Keep it up and work hard for this if
this is what you really want ok!

OH MAN. AETNA PPO were like ANGELS!! it took about 3 weeks to get approval
for me, but everytime i called each representative was extremely nice and
sincere. My BMI was 44, I am only 22, and was nervous, I had NO SERIOUS
co-morbs. They were awesome!! They even called me after my surgery to see
how i was feeling!! i never had a doctor supervised diet, but he did write
a letter to insurance recommending surgery. goodluck!!

Sorry, I guess I have to be the one to post the negative side of Aetna. I
had a horrible time with this company. So much so that my surgery date was
canceled! Please read my profile. On the positive side, I now have approval
and a date. Give them more information than w\you think they will ever
need!!! GOOD LUCK!! I am pulling for you.
