Question:
My stomach hurts- temporary?

I swallowed two large pills this weekend- it was vicodin. It felt like they burned my stomach, and they almost made me yack. Now when I eat, I feel it- it's kind of painful, I get nauseated, and feel everything that my pouch is doing, until it empties. Dairy products and Ibuprofen make it feel better. Think it will pass? Should I wait a week to see what happens? I am keeping food down, regular bowel movements- just a burning sensation, some nausea and irritation (pain) when going through the motions....    — Karen R. The Ibuprofen is death to a pouch. It might feel better temporarily, but it is probably the source of your continnued pain. It is a known pouch burner.

Ib has never bothered me before, and I have taken them consistently for anything since surgery as my surgeon never said anything about NOT taking them. But from what I've read on the board, Ib sometimes bothers people and sometimes doesn't, and I am definitly in the last group. I also take like 2-3 at a time. BTW, my stomach is mucho better (and no Ib taken) today, so it must have been a temporary thing?

Please stop taking the IB TODAY!! It can cause ulcerations as well as a breakdown at the staple line casing a disruption. That goes for ALL NSAIDS!! Vioxx and Celebrex along with Tylenol X Strength are great alternatives. Vioxx worked great for me and I occassionally take Tylenol. I urge you to stop NOW.
