Question:
Any ideas or letters I can look at for ideas?
Hello...I am actually Lori's husband and I am trying to write a good convincing letter of support for her to take to her surgeon TODAY (so I need help SOON). They require her to bring a letter of support stating the reasons they support you and the steps they will take to help you obtain your weight loss goal. Well...my mind went blank. If anyone has ideas or even a copy of a letter I can look at for ideas on how to word my letter I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thank you in advance! — Lori L. (posted on May 6, 2002)

You could include thoughts such as:
The effects you see morbid obesity has on her
You will do everything you can to help her succeed
Both she and you agree the WLS is for her
Thangs of that nature...I wish I could be of more help
Good luck

I think it is wonderful when you have total family support. The support of
a spouse is so vital to the success of it all. I know that my husband was
so supportive from the start. He never had to write a letter though. But
here are some ideas. Maybe start out with the fact that you love her no
matter what she weighs. That loosing weight is very important for her.
That you have seen her struggle with the problem for so many years and all
that you want is for her to be happy and healthy. That you are willing to
take an active role in her post op care with meal planning and a structured
exercise plan that the two of you can do together. Good luck!

I would suggest a heart felt because we love her and she suffers greatly
due to the obesity, and she deserves a healthier life. If you have
researched wls with her, I would explain your knowledge of it and thats how
you intend to support her

A good support system is very important, especially when you are having
such an extensive operation like the Gastric Staping. The Gatric Stapling
operation is a serious operation. There will be many life time changes,
which will entail the cooperation and support from those we love and are
close to. This entire procedure (operation) will help us to lose weight but
our participation will also be necessary. It is important to have a clear
understanding of this procedure prior to the operation and to research the
procedure extensively. In order to understand the inevitable positive and
negative changes that will occur to our bodies, we must begin with a
positive and well informed mind. When the mind feels good, the procedure
will go smoothly and the after affects will also be easier to handle. My
advice to anyone considering this operation is to develop a positive
outlook and to research this topic extensively.

THIS QUESTION COULD ONLY COME FROM A MAN.(JOKE) I THINK JUST BEING
SUPPORTIVE TO HER BY ASKING IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO GO FOR A WALK EVERY CHANCE
YOU GET, AND TELL THEM THAT HER HAPPINESS IS YOURS SHOULD BE ENOUGH. NOT TO
MENTION YOU WANT HER AROUND FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. SO YOU ARE WILLING TO
HELP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. HOPE I GAVE A HEAD START.

Hello I'm Lori's husband also, and I to am at a lost for words when it
comes to seeking help for my Wife Lori.It really pains me cause I want to
help more than anything in the world.I try to be supportive with my
thoughts of advice but I know that words can only go so far with an issue
as serious as this, then what do I (WE) do.? Lori know's that I would move
Heaven and Earth to keep Her healthy. It's really sad that the taxes of
working people can pay for those who can't afford it (And that's fine,we
should help if we are able to).I think that insurance companies should take
care of those who are keeping them in business despite there points of
selfish gain.
Sorry about that. The reason i support My Wife number one I want her to
live her life to her fullest potential, she deserves to have this surgeryif
that's what it's going to take.ot do so I'll make sure She has whatever the
Dr. says she has to have i.e. rest, excercise, proper portion of food at
schduled times, follow-up Appointments. Suppport groups are important to
the patients and thier families maybe this is the start of such a group.
Thank you for sharing and caring enough to share a part of yourselves for
the good and health of our fellow citizens..
