Question:
Why do my teeth feel as if they are coted with fur?
Since becoming Postop I have begun to notice my teeth more. Specifically the Backs of my teeth feel as if they have a coat of fur. It is true I have not been to the dentist in many years, but I brush daily, and it still does not go away. Anyone else notice this? — sbinkerd1 (posted on January 31, 2002)

This usually happens when you are eating a lot of soft foods. I had/have
it and it drives me nuts! And it has nothing to do with how often you get
your teeth cleaned. I go 4 times a year, which is a lot for an average
person and I still have it. I notice that I get it after drinking my
protein shake and after eating a lot of cheese. I think it's cause we're
not eating anything that is hard and that is usually a natural way to
clean. I have this thing called a "stimulator" that is like a
rubber pick and it helps to remove plaque from the gumline. I've been
using it on the backs of my teeth. I read somewhere that this is also from
ketosis. Don't know for sure what that is, but I've heard that that is a
part of weight loss. Anybody else know about ketosis?

HI Scott, I posted a similar question last week. I'm now 6 weeks post-op
and have the same feeling. Many people told me it was because of ketosis
and some said it was because I possibly wasn't getting in enough liquids.
It does go away I hear, but boy its driving me nuts!!! Good Luck!
