Question:
Do most denials come from the insurance rather than the surgon?
I have been reading on here and noticed that most of the denial people encounter are with their respective insurance agencies. From what I hear mine is great about it (tricare prime) So I was wondering my biggest problem is lack of supervised diet history... what are the odds the SURGON will deny me? Hi Marleen - I have Tricare Prime and it was soo easy. As far as the diet
history..... all my surgeon needed for authorization was a three year
weight history where I weighed when each time I went to the doctor. That
is considered supervised in many respects. I was approved in less than
three days and two of those days were the weekend!!! Denials come from the
insurance company nearly all the time. When people have trouble with
physicians they just go find another physician. The only assistance you
can get for weight loss from Tricare is the surgery. I was told all they
require is at least 100 pounds over weight... I just liked a few
comorbidities thrown in to make sure... good luck to you!!! I think you
will be fine...

"Diet history" is a requirement for some insurers...not the
surgeons.
