Question:
How can I get my psych eval done before my consult?

I have a consult scheduled for 2/14/01. My surgeon says I can have a psych eval done before that and can have my PCP ask for pre-certification. Can I go to a psychologist or does it have to be a psychiatrist? How do I go about finding one who knows what they are doing for WLS evaluations? When my surgeon asked for the psych consult, I asked if my current therapist (not a psychiatrist) could do the consult. The surgeon said "yes". My therapist wrote a letter saying basically that I would be a good candidate (from a mental health point of view) for the surgery. Both the surgeon and my insurance company were satisfied with the letter.
