Question:
has anyone had a second operation after their stoma completely closed.
Yesterday I had my endoscopy and they couldn't find any opening in the stomach, they looked for 45 minutes. My surgeon says I will have to have a second surgery to open it up. I am 6 weeks post op and I have to start at square one again, I'm scared to death. Please let me know if you got well after this procedure or if this was just the beginning of more things going wrong. Thank you, Lori Tan — lori T. (posted on December 19, 2001)

Lori, I don't know if we have the same thing or not, but if we don't
nobody at this site has ever heard of what I have!! I am 6 days post-op.
Had lap RNY and day after surgery they had me drink a thin liquid for
contrast for an xray. I was told the pouch was not draining so I couldn't
have anything to eat or drink. They took several more xrays later in the
day and next morning and pouch still wasn't draining. I had a scope done
and they removed the liquid and said the pouch wasn't draining due to
swelling. Still nothing to eat or drink. I was finally sent home from the
hospital with a PICC line and have to have a huge IV bag of nutrients once
a day. Still not supposed to have anything to eat or drink. Right now a
clear liquid diet sounds wonderful. Have you been having problems all
along or is this something new? What were your symptoms?
