Question:
Has anyone had a psych eval like this ,still waitng after 4 weeks for report,

5/31/01 Went for a Psych Eval at Kaiser Fontana Psychology clinic. This was a very demeaning, and insulting experience! My supposed psychogist paid little attention to me. She was on her Cell Phone for most of the interview! I am quite hard of hearing, I asked her to speak up, and she ignored me! She suggested that I try "E-Diet", whatever that fad diet might be. She then suggested that I wouldn't be here if "only I had a little more will power" I am surprised that part of the process for WLS at Kaiser Fontana is that you must be insulted and demeaned by a psychologist!!! Any ideas what to do next.    — Pat H. (posted on July 22, 2001)

I'm so sorry you had to go though this,I too was so tired of doctors trying to sell me diet program but I just change doctors. I went to a psychiatric, had to pay but it was worth it (if they don't take your insurance , they try to help you by given you a lower fee). Anyway I would just go to another doctor, stress to him/her that you must have this report right away(when I told him this, He faxed it in three days) let him know all the research you have on this operation and that you are not doing this for vanity but for health reason, and for goodness sake don't tell them that you want to feel accepted , just stress to them that you have tried everything and NOTHING has worked. You just need a letter stating that you understand the risk. That's what I told my doctor and he agreed that I knew more than he did about the surgery lol Don't let someone your paying ignore you with interruptions,I would have got up, walked away and said "when I can have your total attention for something so important to me I'll come back".Then find another psychologist. Good Luck.

Hi Pat, at my Kaiser (San Francisco) you wouldn't normally just get a copy of the psych eval. unless you specifically request one. You may have to sign for it, too. My psych eval. at Kaiser was an OK experience. And the report was so well-written. He did have to question me about some things I didn't care to mention (I was already being seen by a therapist in the psych department). But he had my chart right there and I knew he had read it beforehand. I was as forthcoming and truthful as I could be and he gave me a favorable referral that I was ok for the surgery. So, give that doc that did your evaluation a call and request a copy of your report. Hugs, Joy
