Question:
How long after approval till you gat a date?

My approval date was April 11, 2001, I guess I'm just antsy to get started on my new life. Scared yes, but I had brain surgery 2 years ago and figure this is a piece of cake compared to that. What is the longest you had to wait for a date and can the insurance company unapprove you once you been approve.    — Debi M. (posted on May 3, 2001)

Dear Debi, Here is the time frame for me: I had first consultation on 2/27/01, xrays, ultrasound, etc on 3/5, got insurance approval 3/19 and then I drove it to my surgeon's office and they scheduled me in the first open spot, which is May 9. Hopefully, all will go according to plan. :-)

I haven't had my consultation yet, it is scheduled for 7/25 and then I was told it would be another 14 to 16 weeks before surgery.

Debi, I think this varies from Doctor to Doctor....I know my Dr. is only doing one surgery a day (which I preferred) so the wait for him is quite long...here's my senario: Jan 4 - PCP to discuss options Jan 10 - PCP to get referral for WLS I knew I would need a psych eval so I scheduled it Feb 15 - psych eval Feb 16 - mandatory info seminar with Surgeon Mar 1 - Insurance submitted and approved via the telephone Mar 5 - received ltr of approval from insurance May 14 - pre-ops May 22 - appt with surgeon May 29 - Surgery. So from the time I decided to have WLS January 4 it was a wait of just about 5 months. Believe me...it has flown by!! Good luck to you!!

I received my approval on February 7th and was scheduled for surgery on March 26th (the first available date). Dr. Rabkin was my surgeon. Good luck!

I got my approval on Sept. 21, 2001 and my Dr. office called the same day to set me up for my surgery which is going to be on Oct. 1, 2001

My paperwork was sent in this past Monday (December 3, 2001) and I was approved on Wed. December 5, 2001 and got my surgery date Thursday, December 6, 2001. My insurance is Guardian and my surgery date is January 28, 2002. Good luck!!
