Question:
Is a lap VBG a much safer long-term surgery?

I've had 3 C-sections and back surgery last summer. A post-op WLS patient (lap RNY) said I could not have lap surgery because of all the scar tissue. True? Also, I am very nervous about the possibility of bowel leakage and infection and staple line deterioration. Will I get the same results with the lap VGB? Is it also easier to recover from and live with? Appreciate your comments...this is a scary decision and want to make the right one. Would also like any email partners who can share directly with me @[email protected]. I'm 37, from NW Iowa. THANKS !    — Laurie R. (posted on March 14, 2001)

Laurie, go back to the Question and Answer board and check someone's question about 10 ot 15 questions after yours. She's asking about VBG vs. RNY results. SHe has had VBG twice and regained her weight both times! I have met soooo many people on this website who have had this result. I strongly advise that you reconsider VBG and instead choose RNY. Best wishes.
