Question:
Will an elevated white blood cell count postpone surgery in 6 days?

After waiting for a year my surgery is scheduled for 1/18/01. Pre op tests revealed an elevated white blood cell count, but I don't feel sick. Will surgery be postponed, my surgeon's office is waiting for followup results before they will tell me anything.    — Seans M. (posted on January 12, 2001)

I hear you! My WBC was not abnormal but a lot of my other labs came back with high and low values. I was scared to call my doctor fearful of surgery being postponed. But I had to know (cause I was stressing over it) so I called my surgeon and he said I was fine and we were still a go. Call him/her. Best wishes.
