Question:
How do I not gain anymore weight and lose this 10-15 lbs. I've put on since surgery
Hi, please give me some advise, I'm 2 yrs post op almost. I lost 125 lbs. I've put on 10-15 in the last 6 mos or so. I would like to take this back off and not gain anymore. Ive not really changed anything that I was doing with my daily eating habits. What do you know? Is there something i can do or change? — Kendra L. (posted on March 22, 2004)

I've lost 7 lbs in the past 8 days by keeping tract of my calories on
Fitday.com. I've been keeping it around 1000 per day. Had surgery 12/2001
and had gained 17 lbs. I now have a buddy keeping me encouraged:) Best
wishes!

I don't have an answer for you, but you're not alone. :)

Many of us have had longer term regain issues. Sometimes you can get a grip
on them. You might want to discuss it with other long termers on the Grad
list. Here's the link:

Three words... South Beach Diet. That is what helped me w/ the regain at
2+ years.

I agree with the comment about South Beach. It is an excellent plan that is
very compatible with our postop needs. I did supplement it with protein
shakes instead of the snacks listed in the book - that's the only change I
made. It's a good plan based on the glycemic index (our blood sugar's
response to certain foods) so after the first two weeks it emphasizes
good-carb, not necessarily just low-carb. But you really need to GET THE
BOOK. Otherwise you won't have a good overview of the whole plan. Good
luck! hugs, Ann .... RNY 9/10/99 .... 260/124

Coming back to this website after gaining almost 10 pounds since the
holidays helped alot. Got me refocused. Fitday.com keeps me accountable.
Walking my dog every morning. Stocking my house full of healthy foods,
keeping healthy foods at work and scheduling my snack times (rather than
grazing all the day!). I have added more fruit because I notice I crave
sweets and tend to snack on junk.

Did you keep a journal pre-op or during your 1 year post op period? How
about old photos? Seeing your photos and reviewing lists of what you won't
miss about being fat (if you had lists like this) might help jump start
your efforts. Just a suggestion. Does your surgeon have a support group you
can attend? What does your surgeon say about this. Good luck to you and I
know you can do it!
