Question:
can you count decaf coffee as a full liquid??
i have been reading on here that regular coffee should only be added as 1/2 of what you drink(ie.. a 12oz cup only counts for 6 oz),.. how about decaf?? i drink a lot of decaf coffee because since losing over 100 lbs i freeze!! i drink that, water, and other non caffeinated beverages.. my urine is always almost see through by the evening.. i'd love to know. i hope someone can answer.. thanks.. jeanne in cali> lap rny 1/16/03..265/154/?? :> — jjettrox (posted on February 21, 2004)

I was told by my surgeon and nutritionist that any decaf and sugar free
liquids are to be counted towards your daily total. I take a sports bottle
with 3-4 cups of decaf iced coffee with me in the car every morning. It is
approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of my daily intake of fluid. I have lost 120
pounds in a year and aam below goal. It hasn't hurt me!! Good luck!

current research shows that this only applies to people who don't normally
drink caffeinated beverages. If you have a tolerance for it, your body has
become VERY good at processing out all the fluid from it. However you
SHOULD always follow the advice of your surgeon :-)
