Were you transected? How much volume? Grazing? Food choices? Checked with a
dietician? Said walking didnt help, you still doing it? Any other exercise?

Christina,
Sometimes people choose to have a conversion surgery to a different type of
WLS. There is a great yahoo group over at www.groups.yahoo.com - then do a
search for "DS_Revision" - these folks have researched and know
an awful lot! There is a wealth of information there.
Hope that helps some!
Blessings,
dina

Were you only walking? I would up exercise to at least an hour a day and
cut out all carbs. I know it is extreme, but it is just to knock you back
into losing again.

no one else has mentioned it but has your surgeon checked you for a
mechanical breakdown of your plumbing? This is usually the reason for such
failures. If so, you should be able to get a revision easily.

I agree with Dolores. Get the mechanics checked first. If your surgeon
doesn't want to hear it, get a copy of your Op report from the Records
Dept. at the hospital, and get yourself to a GOOD surgeon who knows about
our surgery, because if you're doing the right stuff, any surgeon who
thinks its your fault doesn't know crap!

Just want you to know there are others in the same boat. I stopped losing
about 7 months after surgery, a realistic 40 lbs from my goal. I have done
everything to try to get my weight loss started again. Not only do I walk,
but added weight training, and now I have added even more cardio (bicycling
or eliptical) to try and jump start things again. I had my metabolic rate
checked, reviewed my diet with a dietician, cut the carbs down, stopped
doing nearly any exercise for two weeks, upped the protein to over 120
grams per day, etc. Nothing. My thread of hope is that I have heard of
cases where the weight loss started again after several months for no
apparent reason. I think some of us just hold on to the fat despite our
best efforts. Genetics? Who knows! On the up side, I am probably in the
best physical condition I have ever been in in my adult life! (A;so, keep
in mind that walking builds some muscle, which is denser than fat, so your
actual body fat may be less than you think.)

You did not mention what type of WLS you had - LAP Band, Open - etc. ?

Do you have PCOD? and perhaps insulin resistance? My DR said that people
who have insulin resistance will lose then stop. They give them Glucophage
(med)and it starts again. Now I'm just saying this as a FYI because there
isn't enough info. (what type of surgery, how are your eating habits etc)
Talk to a DR about getting a blood test for insulin resistance to check it
out if you're following all the WLS rules. Good Luck!

Hi Christina, please don't let it get you down. I know it's easier said
then done, but I'm in the same boat you are right now. I'm 7 months out
and only down 52lbs. I follow my diet, exercise, but it seems that my
metabolism is just dead...Each of our bodies is totally different and I
believe that we ourselves should know if something feels right or wrong,
even if the Dr says different. I was thin all my life until I had my
children then my body just went crazy and I haven't been able to get below
220 since she was born 21 years ago.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone else who is having any
problems with their weight loss.
Good Luck....
