Question:
EXCLUSION IN POLICY. HOW IS A GOOD WAY TO APPEAL?
I have been denied secondary to an exclusion in policy. States will not cover WLS for any reason, even if medically necessary. I have to get the surgery and can't afford it on my own. How do I go about appealing it? And writting a appeal letter to HR? Thanks Bonnie [email protected] — BonniePTA (posted on September 9, 2003)

Bonnie:
Sorry to tell you but I had an exclusion in my policy and they would NOT
budge no matter what I done. I wrote letters, went to the state board, you
name it No such luck....Sorry... Hope it works for you... if it does, then
let me know (lol) Good luck and I will pray for you.

I am in the process of appeal right now, so I can't let you know how it has
turned out yet, but I did LOTS of research. I sent in: 5 doctor
recommendations, a weight loss history chart of every single wl plan I have
been on, a letter in my own words why I feel I need the surgery (do not
even HINT at any reason cosmetic, and follow everything up with a health
reason.), and I also sent pictures to put a face with all the cold data.
good luck!!
