Question:
Pain under breasts while standing?
Yesterday I started feeling a really sharp pain right underneath my breasts, kinds in the middle of my rib cage right where it starts. There is no lump, but it feels like there should be. Then when I lay down, it's ok. Got up this morning and it is back. If I lay down it goes away, stand up and feel the sharp pain. Anyone know what this could be??? Surgery May 9, 2002 down 50lbs. On a big plateau right now. — Patricia H. (posted on September 5, 2002)

I had a pain similar to yours. I was just fine while I was lying down, but
standing and walking HURT! See my profile for details, but I think it was
a pulled muscle. I took advil every four hours for several days until it
was gone. The key was to not miss a dosage, even if I felt better for a
little while. Good luck, I know how you feel.

Patricia, I hope you feel better, i have no clue what it is and talking ot
your doctor would be a good idea. THe reason that I am posting is becasue I
read the previous post that suggested that you take advil every 4 hours
wiht out missing a dose. Advil is on the NO-NO list for us post op. PLEASE
do not take it with out direct orders from your doctor to do so. It can
cause ulcers in our tiny tummies.

I'm the one who said I took advil. My bypass doctor did say I could take
it, but check with yours if you are inclined to take it. I also take it
for menstrual cramps.

I felt the same pain you describe, and was told by my support group that it
was probably gas pain. Their suggestion was to walk around and do some
bending exercises. I had it 3 days before I asked for advice, and was
afraid it was a heart thing, so wasn't working out at all. Well the
bending worked like a charm.
