Question:
OK, I know you can't wear contacts during surgery but what if.....
you have no glasses at all.(Can't afford to just go get glasses) I know i won't need them while I'm in surgery but what about the 3 days in the hospital?I am blind without them. Can I put them back in when I wake up? I have searched for an answer in the library but couldn't find one. Thanks you guys! — LaKeAffy (posted on May 20, 2002)

Hi! I personally don't think there should be a problem wearing the contacts
after surgery, but I'm not a doc. So, probably the best person to be asking
this question to(if you can't find it here) you should ask your doctor or
the nurses at the hospital.

I had the same issue. I took them out for surgery and as soon as I was
coherent enough and could sit up I put them right back in. Only problem I
had was I seemed to have caught a little infection or irritation from
surgery. The surgeon will often tape your eyes shut or use a cream on the
eyes. It irritated my eyes and they were very dry for several days. So
bring some wetting solution. But you'll do fine. Best wishes on your
surgery.

I do not know how bad your eyesite is, but they make reading glasses in
some strong strengths, you can get them at Wal Mart ETC, Maybe you can give
them a try on at the store and see if they would work for you while in the
hospital,
The Concern I would have with contacts in while in the hospital, I fell
asleep all the time, and would not of wanted to worry about my contacts.
