Question:
What is this 'window of opportunity' that I've been hearing about?
this is in referenceto two posts from yesterday. REgarding any WLS, is there a better time for losing weight? Are you supposed to lose more in the beginning? Will you only lose a lot of weight in the first 6 months? Thanks! — jenn2002 (posted on January 24, 2002)

J,from what I have been told by my doctor and others who have had the WLS,
you will experience the greatest weight loss during the first six months,
then it will begin to even out. It CAN take up to two years for your
weight loss to stop. It really depends on the person though...
discipline and exercise.

RE:Window of Opportunity - According to my surgeon and many people with
whom I have spoken, once a person has the surgery they have from 12 to 18
months where the weight loss will be steady... as long as the person is
eating right.. In some people this period of time can be a shorter, and
others up to 2 years. My doc encouraged me to take full advantage of this
time as I have soo much to lose....about 235 pounds. I am down over 50 and
on the way. good luck to you... (forgive the typing color... I am trying
to change it... but the site is down!!)
