Question:
HELP, I was told today that i have a Hialtal Hernia
i was told today that i had a hiatal hernia. i read in the library that it is pretty common, but what exactly is it and how do they repair it? They also said I had a cholestrol blob thingy ( ? ) on my gallbladder, is that bad and will either prevent surgery???? — Tica G. (posted on October 25, 2001)

I have a hiatal hernia. Many, many of us obese people have them. Mine was
there before my gastric (RNY) in August, and my surgeon told me that when I
get this extra weight off, it will subside and probably no longer be a
problem. Go to www.webmd.com and you can read all about exactly what it
is, and you can see x-rays of what it looks like. Do NOT worry--it is not
a big deal. As for your gallbladder thingy, I have no idea on that as I
have not had a gallbladder for 10 years. Good luck and God bless!

I have a hiatal hernia... I have real bad GERD, the GERD causes me a lot of
problems, but the hiatal hernia is just an annoyance. Are your sure your
doctor didn't say polyp? My doctor is going to take out my gallbladder
when he doesn my RNY... Ask your doctor if he does this too.
