Question:
My wife has sent in her application

My wife Jen mailed her paperwork the other day. Now she has been in the hospital lately for a whole battery of tests and had pneamonia. Now since we know what pre op test our surgeon requires and nearly all of them she has had I suggested we take her test results and doctors reports along for her first visit. By that time all her doctors can have sent her test results and recomendations and unless some strange issue comes up her pre op testing would be complete. Does taking all this along on the first visit sound like a good idea? Incidently ALL her doctors are supportive of surgery and are asking when it will occur.    — bob-haller (posted on June 26, 2001)

hi bob. sorry to hear that ur wife is under the weather. about a month ago i started with a new cardiologist. after the usual physical exam we had our consultation. i told him how i had been researching wls & what did he think. (his answer shocked me!) 'thats terrific!!! i am going to do all my pre-op tests starting next week & by the time u have a consultation with the surgeon we will have all the results!' he said. & he was true to his word. i have so far had my blood work up (i need some follow up work done), echo cardiagram, carotid artery sonogram, pulmonary function test & cardiogram. the last test will be an angiogram because of my history of cardio vascular disease. so, what i am saying here is this...i think u r on the right track getting ur wifes test results beforehand. the wls surgeon may want to re-do some of the tests so that they r more current but, she may have other tests that he doesnt care about a time frame as long as the tests were done somewhat recently. good luck to u both & i hope jen feels better in the coming days.
