I would love for anyone to give me advice on what I should do. I have already lost 14 pounds. How can I stop myself from doing this again. I fill like a Alcholic who has slipped. O.k. don't panic first all, I'm sure that you Doctor has a certain plan
that you are supposed to follow? Right, right. Now what you do is follow
that plan. Honey your doctor gives you instructions for a reason. It could
be a danger to you to try to eat foods that you are not supposed to eat
yet. Please try to be strong, I know the first couple of weeks are very
hard. When you think that you want to eat try drinking some water with
lemon or lime in it. Don't worry it will get better.... Just follow your
doctors orders..Remember this is a site that is here to help....

I went out for a fish sandwich today and it had chips with it.
I gave almost all the chips to the person with me and ate
just a few of them. I don't feel guilty as I knew I could
take them or leave them. If your hungry for something, eat
just a little of it and move on. If you start feeling guilty
you may go back to old eating habits. I'm glad that I now
have the control to eat alittle and to "chose what I want to
eat". Don't feel guilty. Eat alittle and enjoy. Just don't
make a habit of things that are fattning. Just have them for
a treat once in awhile so you are not denying yourself.

It is crucial that you let the new stomach heal from the incisions. Make
that your goal right now. Don't do anything else that could hurt your
staple line or sutures. Concentrate on that, and not on cheating or not
cheating. This is a matter of life and death, truly. Because, if your
stomach was transected and you eat the wrong stuff during this first 6 or 8
week period, you could leak into your insides and that could be deadly.
Are you scared yet? I hope so, that it my goal. LATER, after the stomach
is healed, I think you will have the will power you need but it does take
some work on your part to make good choices. If you occasionally take a
few bites of bad foods later, it wouldn't be so bad. But right now, that
is bad! Don't do it again. ok?

I say congratulations to you for only eating 5 chips. Think of it this
way...if you had not had the RNY, how many more chips would you have eaten?
No one ever got fat or "blew it" because they ate 5 chips. At a
week post op, after all those liquids and feeling lousy, I craved odd
things too, but I could only have a few bites. Once you get to more regular
pattern, you won't crave things as much, and if you do, you can have 5
chips.

Careful. Beating yourself up can set the cycle in motion again. Ok, you ate
5 chips. Did you realize that your stomach is raw and it takes about a
month for it to heal 95%? Keep that in mind and it should strengthen your
resolve. Having said that, a number of people in our group have admitted
that they "lick the seasoning" off of their Doritos when cravings
are high, and some say they actually chew and savor a chip, but spit it
out. That sounds sort of buliemic to me, but I guess it would be preferable
to eating them.

Remember Murphy's law on WLS. Just because it went down today, doesn't mean
it will go down tomorrow. Throw that bag of chips away. Even if it's still
almost full. It won't kill you to throw perfectly good chips away. Do it
now! If it's for your family members, ask them to eat their chips away from
the house and not in front of you. If they love you and want you to be
successful, they will understand. And don't go down the chip aisle at the
store. When you reach for the bag, stop and think before you actually put
it in your mouth. You can do it. God knows that if I could do without chips
and sweets, you can too. You are not alone!

I'd say, don't sweat it, unless you are now eating chips constantly. After
surgery, I was really craving everything. I could have nothing, (well at
least not the things my children were having). I ate chips, three to five
on about two or three occasions. They tasted wonderful then. NOw, the
thought of the grease sickens me. I don't crave them or fries at all. I am
now 9 weeks post op.

Don't worry about the 5 chips. The best part about this surgery is you can
eat thse foods once in a while, but you can't eat a lot of them. I think
you will find that your cravings for those foods lessen. You will succeed.
Keep doing what your doing and not worry, the weight will come off!
