Question:
Why do I have to have so many test

I have had and psych evaluation, cardio, gastro,endo,pulumo, and an nutritional evaluation. I would like to know why all these test. These test are making me discourage about the surgery. I can see If I had problems before, but can't my surgeon give me these test in the hospital a week before the surgery.    — blank first name B. (posted on May 20, 2001)

I know this is frustrating but hang in there. Your Dr.'s are making sure there isn't something unknow that could be potentially devestating during or after surgery. I actually know someone that while doing all these tests was discovered she had breast cancer. Besides, they're covering their butts. I was happy knowing going into surgery that altho I was MO I was healthy. They also knew how my recovery should be barring any unknow/unforseen complications.

Deb- I know, I've had some too. They took like 7 vials of blood alone!! But I gotta tell you, if there's anything lurking in there, I don't want it to come as a surprise when I'm laying open on that table!!! Also, I keep telling myself that I am agreeing to a big change in my lifestyle - so these "inconveniences" now are just "practice" for me...am I willing to do what it takes to get to and to maintain my new life? I even got my big butt off the couch this weekend and exercised two days in a row!! LOL!! Hang in there!!
