Why do I have to have so many test

I have had and psych evaluation, cardio, gastro,endo,pulumo, and an nutritional evaluation. I would like to know why all these test. These test are making me discourage about the surgery. I can see If I had problems before, but can't my surgeon give me these test in the hospital a week before the surgery.
