Question:
Has anyone with a colostomy ever had gastric bypass surgery?
My husband has colon cancer 5 years ago and now has a colostomy. He has been deemed "cancer free," but he does have a weight problem. His weight has caused the area around his stoma to herniate several times so he has had surgery for that. I just wondered if there would be further complications with his already different digestive track. Anyone else in this situation? Lisa Polk — Lisa P. (posted on October 31, 2000)

I would have no clue. But I would think that if you were to call a Dr.
that they would be able to advise you on what would be best.

I have a colostomy and I have just gotten my screening appointment. I was
unable to find anyone that has a colostomy and also WLS. I was told when I
called to apply that it will be up to the surgeon.I am optimistic since I
got approval for the screening. I have my appointment the end of the month.
I will update everyone as to the answer.
