Question:
I had a hernia repair with my Bypass surgery,
I am having the worst pain from this repair. It is pretty intense. Is this something I should expect? Does it take longer for a hernia repair to heal. From those of us who have had both done at the same time please let me know what you experienced. I have scheduled an appt. with my surgeon for next week. Thanks so much. — Courtrina Amur W. I didn't have my hernia repair and wls at the same time. I had my open
RnY, then nine months later had a large incisional hernia repaired. In my
experience, the hernia repair was a much more painful surgery. Even now,
three months later, my hernia repair still hurts a little if I sneeze or do
something to stress those muscles. I think it just takes a long time for
the muscle tissue to heal all the way.

Hi,
I had an open RNY with gall bladder removal and hernia repair , It was
pretty painful an my umbilical area where the hernia was was very tender
and hurt easily.
So, what your going through sounds normal, just keep a close eye on it and
make sure your Dr. is paying attention too your needs.

I had 2 hernia's repaired and gall bladder removal at the time of my RNY.
Even though it's been 4 months, I still have twinges of pain around my
belly button every once in a while. My surgeon says that it will
eventually go away.
