Question:
Only sleeping 4 hours at a time now - how long does it last?

I assume this is one of those anasthetic side effects. I sleep off and on during the day and night, and wake up with pain in my lower abdomen that goes away as soon as I wake up and walk around. Sometimes I can get back to sleep, but usually lying down brings the pain back again. I can't go back to work until this clears up - anyone else go through this post op?    — Kasey K. I too am suffering from this. I am 17 days post op and I finally made 5 hours last night. I dont have so much pain. I am just thinking, because I am less active (off work) that my body does not need as much sleep. I find that if I stay awake for about 1 to 2 hours during the night, I can usually get about two more hours sleep. Can't wait to sleep again. I know the feeling.

Hi, it does go away after awhile it is because of your sleep schedual in the hospital every four hrs and the pain you are feeling is the gas in your system needing you to walk it out. If you can force yourself NOT to go to sleep during the dayyou'll go back on a schedual quicker. I'm still on pain meds and have finally made it to 7 hrs sleep a night before i wake up again good luck bbdiane
