Question:
In process of trying to get insurance to pay for a LBL.

In case insurance only pays for a panniculectomy, I will pay the difference for the LBL. My question is, if I run into complications, who pays? Does it depend on the complication? Does it depend on the insurance co (I have Aetna US Healthcare)? Thanks!    — Yolanda J. (posted on April 20, 2004)

Hi. Great question. I always encourage my patients to check their INS for coveragte of "compications of plastic surgery." These are often covered but yiou need to amke sure there is no exclusion. Your PS should be able to check this but don't rely only on them. It can make getting an ultrasound, xray, or lab test so much easier!
