Question:
Can't tolerate skim, would Soy be better?
I've been using no sugar added Carnation with 1/3 cup of powdered milk and 8oz skim milk. It's good, and is 20 grams of protein. My problem is every time I drink it, I throw up. This is the only drink that I can drink, the others taste so bad. Would using soy milk help me tolerate it better? HELP! This is the only protein I get right now. Thanks, Mary — Mary D. I couldn't tolerate skim milk either post op, it was weird. I moved to 1%
or 2% and was able to tolerate it a little bit more. Milk is something i
have a bit of a problem with post op. I do better with powdered milk than
regular milk. Try the 1% or 2% and see if you do better, if you dont you
may be one of us that are somewhat lactose intolerant post op. I can do
all other dairy but eggs and milk....go figure

You might want to skip milk and go to real protein. I've not had moo for
9.5 yrs. You get way more quality protein, made in water, small vloume,
delivering large wad of protein, no sugars or fat adders. There are many
tolerable brands. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG

Mary,
i couldn't tolerate skim milk either, so now I use lactaid or acidipholus
milk (you can buy tablet too) that actually helps with digestion.
There is also a drink by ISOPURE called ISOPURE ZEROCARB, its prebottled
and comes in 5 flavors, it has 40 gms of protein for 20oz. I like the blue
rasberry the best, gotta drink it ice cold though.
If you have any questions you can email me. Good luck

After surgery I found out I was lactose intolerant. I've finally settled on
Fat Free Lactaid milk with Soy Protein (14 grams of protein in 1 cup). I
have no problems with it now. I don't really drink it much by itself
though, as I mainly use it to mix my protein drink with Vanilla Isopure
Zero Carb.

After surgery, I, also, found that I wasn't able to handle any type of
dairy. I've tried several different soy milks, but I found that I like
lactaid best. Personally, I find that it tastes just like regular milk and
it doesn't make me sick in any way.

I can't tolerate cow milk, so I have switched to Soy Slender and love it.
It also helps to find protein drinks that can mix with water, like Nectar
and Isopure.

I use Carb Countdown Low Carb Dairy Beverage it has 12 grams of protein for
8 ounces and it comes in whole milk, skim milk, 2 % milk and 2% chocolate
milk versions. You can review them at hphood.com for all the nutritional
info. I was never a milk drinker and never liked it but I love this stuff
and have never gotten sick on it. I use the 2% to mix my protein drink
making that 8 oz drink worth 24 grams of protein.
