Question:
Hello, How much food should u be intaking at 10 months out?

Hi, im 10 months post-op on the 25th of December, -83lbs, which im happy with. These last 17lbs-27lbs are the hardest to lose. I wanted to know how many ounces per meal should u eat. I can eat pretty much of everything in moderation. I only had 2 episodes of dumping, i can eat sweets with no problem but i do limit them. I do have my bouts with vomiting, when im to full or it gets stuck in the middle of my stomach and it has to come up. typical day Breakfast 2 scrambled eggs w/cheese 2 sl bacon Lunch 1/2c egg salad, cheese cubes, deli meat Dinner 3 chicken drummets 1/2c string bean. It does change but for the most part this is it as far as servings. i get in all of my required water, and i do taebo for 30 minutes 3-4 times a week. Im looking at my stomach and it appears that it is getting bigger but i wear a size 12/14 pant, maybe im just losing in other places and it is making my stomach look big. If i had a tummy tuck right now i would be wearing a size 10. Thank u all in advance for your answers.260/177/150-160    — sexysag37 (posted on December 17, 2003)

I had my surgery on February 3 2003. You are eating quite a bit more than I can. If I were to eat what you described, I could only eat the one egg with half of a slice of bacon, the deli meat and cheese cubes and not the egg salad (or ONLY the egg salad), and maybe one of the chicken drummettes.. depending on how it has been cooked. I wouldn't eat it at all if it were fried, and I could eat make a 1/4 of a cup of the beans. I started at 304 and I am now 152, with a loss of 152 lbs (I wear a size 10, sometimes 8). My surgeon's goal for me is 150, but I am still losing about 12 lbs a month so I am confident I will get lower, perhaps to 130ish. I am 5'4. Your exercise sounds good, but I have to say if you ae so full that you are vomitting, I think you should cut back your portions a bit. Good luck!

I started at 257 the morn. of surgery. Now at 163. I cant seem to drop the last 20 lbs I would be happy with 10 more. I'm 5'4 for breakfastI eat. 1 egg a few times 2 a half peice of toast. lunch I can eat 1 yougart, than later a 1/2 sandwich. Ive even eaten a small burger before, but I usually tare off all the extra bread it makes a tiny burger and cuts back the carbs although there full of fat. dinner. chicked drumstick salid sometimes a bit more sometimes less. Ive measured it all out several times. I eat a cup of food per meal. it stinks cause I have NEVER gotton sick and I dont dump. so I have nothing to help keep me on track. Im a total food addict. like heroin to a junkie. so I have to be very careful. I exercise 30 min a 3-5 days a week. I notice sometimes if I eat a little more I lose. it just depends. I'm trying to figure out which way to go to lose that extra 10-20. Im having a Abd plasty Jan. 22nd what I should of done is gone back to the dietician and got her to make adjustments in my diet. and still will but it wont be till after my surgery cause of the hollidays. good luck my best to you.

i was ten months out and I can't eat nearly as much as you do. I had rny. Don't know what you had. For breakfast, I can eat 1 scrambled egg and one slice of toast or instead of the toast, i small sausage patty. For luch, I might have 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 4 saltines. For dinner, I might have two or three "bites" of meat and maybe a tablespoon of a veggie. For snacks, I can eat 1/2 apple or pear. This is not all the kinds of food I eat but an example of the amounts. It seems to me like you are eating too much. I started as a lightweight and expected to lose slower. Starting weight was 228 now I weigh 130 which is ten-fifteen pounds under my docs goal. oh, and I do drink 64 ounces water and juice per day and two protein shakes a day. Hope this helps.

I had surgery in May 2003 (233 lbs) and today I'm about 155 lbs or less. I can eat pretty much anything except eggs. I never have sugar unless it's natural (pears, banana, etc.) In the last month I have begun eating bread which I had given up so I think my weight loss will slow down if I continue. I have a hard time with breakfast because I'm sick of everything already. Sometimes I skip it and have a cafe latte (not a good thing). My breakfast is usually a fruit salad (half) or a small sized yogurt but not both at the same time (too filling). If I'm really hungry I'll have scramble egg whites with ham & cheese on a croissant (I dont eat all the bread). I have this maybe once or twice a week. Not too much because it sometimes makes me queasy. For lunch it's usually a small roasted chicken breast with lettuce and tomatoes or a salad. Sometimes I'll eat a burger from Wendys and skip the bread and fries. Dinner I try to go lite because it's usually the meal that makes me sick. I'll eat a little of anything except carbs (pasta, bread, rice). I prefer a small steak with veggies or I might have a bowl of cuban style beans (black, white, red, etc.) I never drink soda and rarely have juice (1 or 2x a month). I don't measure my food but I know that anything larger than a hand full is too much for me. I rarely dump and it only happens if I skip my iron pills more than two days. The times I have dumped have been because I had something containing real sugar and didn't realize it. I refuse ot eat any sugar, chocolate or sweets. Even Edy's sugar free ice cream is too sweet and causes nausea. If you actually vomit then you are having too much fod. Maybe you should break you meals down to 5 a day instead of just 3. Have a mid morning and mid afternoon snack like grapes, fruit salad, carrots, etc. You don't have to eat everything on the plate either. Best of luck. In time it will all pass.

It sounds like a lot you are eating, but whose to say, I think it has everything to do with how small your surgeon made your pouch. maybe that's why you can hold more. I eat 2 scrambled eggs mixed with cheese. then maybe a small cup of already made sf jello. and I can feel my stomach stuffed. Lunch is one hamburger patty with a dot of ketchup, no bread and sf jello again and I'm full. dinner mainly the same as lunch or breaskfast. snack is pork rinds, or peanuts, I do change up on my menu but it usually stays the same until I get sick of the same thing. Oh well good luck on your wl journey.take care wls 12/6/02 400/230/-170 in a year

Everyone is different with the amounts per meal that they can eat. Let me ask you, how long is it taking you to eat a meal? At 10 mo you should limit meal time to 10-15 min and then stop eating. Sometimes when we see a post-op who seems to eat alot we find out that they are taking more than 1/2 hour to eat which is the reason they can eat more than normal. I don't believe you are eating too much, as long as you are only taking your 10-15 minutes to eat, and you do not feel overly full or ill from eating this amount. Some can just eat more than others, especially soft foods. Good on your water and your exercise, choice of foods and weight loss.

Hi Rita, I know alot of answers say your eatting alot. But I don't think you are- At 10 months out, I could easily eat what you are eatting. (I am now 13 months post op and have lost 159lbs) Doctors make pouches different sizes. I know this because I've always been able to eat a little more then everyone else. I easily eat a cup of food now (8-9 oz) so I KNOW I must be very careful with my choice- I think you are right on target and doing a GREAT job. Cheers Kim

Hello, It sounds to me like your not eating all that much at 10 months out. I do think you might want to make a few better food choices for breakfast. Two eggs with bacon and cheese, sounds like colestoral heaven, unless of course, you're doing the Atkins diet. But who am I to say, because, unfortunately at 5 1/2 months out, I am able to eat almost anything and in hefty quantities. I discovered this over the Thanksgiving holidays. I decided to do the cabbage diet this week, just to cleans myself out a bit and to get back on track. I'll never do the Cabbage diet again. Normally, I would consume, two to three ounces of meat protein in the morning and some fruit or 4oz of 100% fruit jc, a lowfat yogurt as a snack. Lunch and Dinner, 3 to 4 oz of lean meat, veggies, maybe an oz or two of a starch. usually I have some type of fruit or yogurt between meals. I do admit in the past I would eat too much of a certain snack food, so I've thrown out anything that is a trigger for a binge, number one on the list are cashews, I can eat nearly a whole can in a day. So no cashew for me. I've lost a total of 73 lbs, five 1/2 months out. My weight did freeze at the 70 lbs mark for a couple of weeks. As of July 9, 300/227/less than I am now. : ) Good luck and I hope that you stay on track and keep up the good work and remember everyone looses at different paces, so number one, don't compare your weight loss with anyone else or it will drive you crazy as it did me in the beginning.
