Question:
I was told I had sever reflux before surgery, but never had symptoms...
But now, 4.5 months post op, I am having severe burning in my throat and esophagus all the time. I've made an appt with my surgeon for Monday, but I can hardly eat or drink anything without the severe burning. I'm even having trouble forcing water down. I eating tums like crazy, and considering buying some OTC reflux meds. Anyone else suffer with this post op? — Happy I. (posted on October 3, 2003)

I have had this for years and after surgery the Surgeon has continued
having me take my prevacid. Hopefully soon I can stop taking it!

I had GERD/acid reflux disease prior to surgery and just was treated for
the same thing post-op. My doctor prescribed Protonix 1X daily and Reglan
1/2 tablet 1/2 hour before meals and at bedtime. This has helped
tremendously.
