Question:
Stricture Possible at Nine Months?

I had a stricture at 4 months and the doctor warned that another one would be possible but I found that I was eating well after the stricture was opened up. After a couple of months, I felt very good about the way I was able to eat and the doctor thought the danger for stricture was over. Now I'm almost at 9 months and have been finding that lately (last week or so) I'm having a lot of trouble eating more than a few bites at any one time and if I do, I throw it back up (which I haven't done in months). The result is that I'm feeling hungry and not satisfied all the time. I normally don't have a problem with liquids and last night I had a half of a glass of water and kept feeling like it was going to come back up. Is it possible that another stricture has formed or could it be something else?    — susanje (posted on September 28, 2003)

Yes, it is possible to have another stricture more then once. Unfortunately, some people end up having more then one EGD which is a concern of mine because I've had one (and don't want another)! Write down everything you eat to see what may trigger the tightness or vomiting, but definately have the docs check you out if the problem persist more then 1-2 weeks. Hopefully, you won't have to go through EGD again. Good luck.

Thanks much. It hasn't been too bad the past couple of days. I think the suggestion to write down what I eat is a good one and see if it's triggered. I just started a new job and am not in the rhythm of eating there yet. That could be it also. I like the writing down suggestion. Thanks much.
