Question:
Does every 3 months sound right?
My PCP says I only need to see him every 3 months while I am seeing my dietician for the physician approved diet for Aetna. I am seeing the dietician each month and getting weighed in and all. Does the 3 month PCP visit sound right to you? I really don't want to get this 6 months done and have Aetna mess it all up again. Thanks! — Tiffany B. (posted on September 10, 2003)

Call the insurance and ask if this will be acceptable. Then ask for the
person's name so you have it for future reference. I would think it would
be okay because the doctor is the one that ordered the dietician program,
but better safe than sorry.

Hi, I also am on the 6mo Dr supervised dietian diet for AETNA ppo and I am
going once a month on the same day if possible to a weigh in and talk..that
way there is no if's or but's about it..I have Diabetis and was recently
put on med..If you look on the Aetna website you should see that they
changed the criteria to being able to apply for approval before your 6mo is
up, but not being able to have the surgery untill your 6mo is up. so if
theres a waiting list with your surgeon then you can get on the list and
when your time is up then your next on the list for surgery..on my 3mon
which is oct 22 I will re-apply for approval, I closed my case the first
time on no 6mo diet and didnt wait an denial..so anyways sorry so
long...Good Luck.

I'm with Shauna below. I have Aetna too, and since I've had to appeal with
a prev insurance before, I want to make sure that they will approve ASAP
this time. I am seeing the Dr once a month to get weighed, discuss diet and
to have info charted and am trying to get weight charted at least 2 other
times in the mo. So far my PCP's office has NOT put 2 weights on my chart
that they were supposed too. The pcp didn't think this would matter, but I
am not sure. (The PCP would not add the weights later).
