Question:
Now that it is so much colder outside, I'm having a hard time drinking my water.....
It just give me a chill. Also, my main source of protein are in the protein shakes which are delicious in the summertime -- refreshing! But now that it's cold I find it harder to get in my water and my protein shakes. Any suggestions? Should I be drinking hot tea for example? Also, how do I get my protein in in the form of powder other than mixing it in a shake? Help! I'm lacking here. — Annie H. (posted on December 1, 2002)

I drink tons of decaf tea's, all flavors and use Splenda to make some taste
better. I also use the no added sugar cocoa you mix with water. I don't use
supplements, only food, so no idea's on that one. Good Luck!

If you need to drink warm drinks, go with the decaf teas or coffee - that
counts as water. But DRINK!!!! The heat that is on in the buildings is
very dehydrating and it is very easy to get dehydrated after surgery. I
ended up in the hospital getting IV fluids because I failed to drink enough
for a couple of days. So, no matter how you do it, DRINK.

sugar free hot chocolate and then add in non-fat dry milk powder. It will
add lots of protien. Nothing wrong with just drinking plain hot water.
It's kinda nice in the morning to get things started.

believe it or not, I like just plain hot water. Also water at room temp
sits well and doesn't chill me.

I, too, drink decaf teas, room temperature water and cocoa to beat the
chill and still get all my fluids in. I use 1/3 of an envelope of Swiss
Miss Fat Free cocoa mix, as it has less sugar than the no sugar added
variety. I stir in one scoop of protein powder with the mix, add hot water
and stir. Not only is it yummy, but it gives me 20 grams of protein as well

I have the same problem with water. I use hot tap water with my protein and
drink it like hot chocolate. Sometimes I add instant coffee to it.
Try heating up some unsweetened apple juice with a cinnamon stick for a
nice warm holiday drink.
All other drinks including water I take at room temp. However, I hear this
problem gets better. Good luck.
