Question:
WLS Friendly PCP in SF Bay/East County Area?
To follow up on my previous "PCP withdrew" post. I welcome any suggestions for WLS Friendly PCP in the SF Bay/Oakland area including Contra Costa County, Alameada County and South Bay. I have Blue Cross POS so I can see anyone in the network but will take all suggestions. Thanks much. — susanje (posted on November 17, 2002)

Well my own PCP isn't exactly what you'd call WLS friendly... I've had to
do a lot of convincing, so that wouldn't be the best bet... but I went to
my first WLS support meeting a few weeks ago - someone siad their PCP - a
Dr. De Montiero in Concord was very pro WLS. Also I read on someone's
profile (argh, name slips my ind), that thier PCP a Dr. Damien Augustyn in
SF was supportive of WLS and referred to Dr. Rabkin (I think I saw this on
the patient forum of Dr. Rabkin under the insurance section). Good luck to
you! Actually probably most doctors would be supportive if you explain the
facts and your reasoning.

Hi, I don't know if San Jose is too far for you, but I love my PCP. He was
and is very supportive of this surgery. His name is Dr. Hernan Casanovas.
His office is located across the street from O'Connor Hospital. You will
love his assistant, Linda. I currently have Aetna POS insurance and Dr.
Casanovas is an in-network doctor. Hope this helps.
