Question:
Considering the tummy tuck now that I'm a year post-op, even tho I said I never would
I'm a postal worker, one year post op, I do quite a bit of heavy lifting, tugging, very active job, etc. Can you give me a "guesstimate" of how long I would be out if I decide on the tummy tuck? Will I have to return on limited or light duty, say, after 30 days absence? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect..........Thanks. — Annie H. (posted on November 16, 2002)

Hi. I just recently had hernias repaired and a tummy tuck. I was off work
for 2&1/2 weeks, but I don't have to do much lifting for my job. My
surgeon had stated that I would have lifting limitations of 25 pounds from
weeks 4-8 following surgery. I could only lift 5 pounds the first 4 weeks.
Hope this helps. Good luck!!

I had a tummy tuck 2 1/2 weeks ago. I went back to work after two weeks.
I laid around the house the first 1 1/2 weeks and moved very carefully. I
could not lay on my side. I slept kinda upright and had a pillow under my
knees which helped alot. I must admit I am still very sore but since I sit
at a computer all day, it is not too bad. I notice that my purse still
feels heavy when I carry it. My stomach is still swollen but I think I
will be VERY happy when the swelling goes down. GOOD LUCK!!!

I was not allowed to lift, pull or push ANYTHING over 10 pounds after my
abdominoplasty for 6 weeks post-op.
