Question:
Anyone find that suddenly at 4 months they can eat more?

OK... I'm just looking for some support so that I can stop freaking out and worrying. I've been doing great - I'm 4 1/2 months, and have lost 60 lbs. But - 2 weeks ago I was at 214 now I'm at 218, my measurements haven't changed. I'm noticing too that I can eat more, that it takes more to fill me up, feel satisfied. Here's what I ate yesterday: 1 1/2 slices toast, cheese and crackers for am snack, 1/2 a double cheeseburger from McD (unusual, craving a burger for over a week, you get to a point that you eat it just to be done with it!), cheez-its for a pm snack, salad at dinner, few bites of a chix wrap for dinner (1/3 of it, chix, veggies, tortilla, dressing), that's it. Before if I ate the salad at dinner, forget having anything else! Drinking tons of water. I'm having a really tough time doing protein in the morning too. , so am doing toast right now. Ugh. Someone tell me that it's just a plateau, that I'm ok, that this is completely normal, that I'm not a complete mess-up. I do need to get my butt to the grocery store and get some of my good protein snacks - cottage cheese, regular cheese, yogurt, etc. Life is just crazy busy at this moment. Any advice, ideas? Sorry to be rambling!!!    — Sarah C. (posted on June 29, 2002)

sara, look at WHAT you are eating! the only real protein you are getting is later in the day, AND, it is NOT enough! sorry to yell at you, but, you must eat protein! the carbs are making you more hungry. it doesn't look like too much, just the wrong choices. best of luck to you.

Sarah, I can relate. It does sound like you are eating way too many carbs during the day-cheeze its, toast, tortilla, bun on the hamburger, crackers. Sounds like you need to increase your protein intake and cut back on the carbs, and not necessarily the amount you are eating. At 5 months out, I can easily eat what you are eating. So the amount sounds OK. Are you also exercising, because that works wonders to move the scale down. And, as for getting in more protein, for breakfast-do you like eggs? Every am, I have a scrambled egg with a slice of melted cheese and a tablespoon of chili on top. I make it in advance and pop it in the microwave to heat up as I run out the door! Or instead of toast, try a protein bar...or protein drink.

Hi, I have to agree with the others on this one. Please, please go back to eating proteins, and a small portion of salad or no-starch veggies with lunch and dinner. No snacks, no drinking with meals and ONLY 3 meals/day. You should be ating 2-3 oz. of protein per meal at this stage. Drink your water between meals and lay off the carbs. They are metabolized as sugar and will definately impede your weight loss. Take a look at my website: www. WeightlossSurgery.ws I truly believe that you MUST play by the rules for this to work. You were given the tool, now you have to use it. Making wrong food choices will not get you to your goal. At 4 months, you gotta play it straight. Sweets and starches are NOT your friend. They will make you hungry, crave more and keep you fat. You made the decision, now the committment is what gets you there. You can do it. It's easier to do the right thing than to bear the feelings of turmoil after you know you ate the wrong foods. Believe me. Best of luck, Diane N.

Hello, I'm so glad you asked this question because I feel like I am in the same boat as you are in. But it is true, we have to get back to the basics and eat our protein. I am now reaching for the what is convenient rather what is right. So hang in there you are not alone. What I'm going to do is start my food log today and write down everything I eat. We have to remember why we had this surgery and what we put ourselves thru. If you ever need support or someone to talk to email at the email address on my profile page. Good luck.-Jen
