Question:
Has anyone else had a problem with nasea and smells being very strong and overbearing

I recently thought i had a stomach virus, and have had nausea since, its been a little over a week. I have noticed though that smells since then overbear me, sometimes even cause me to vomit. I smell things when other people cant smell anything and i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and how long does it last?    — Brandi W. (posted on May 25, 2002)

I did the exact same thing...it lasted about two weeks.

I had this same side effect or whatever you want to call it early post-op with food and stil do to a certain extent at 11 months post-op. Food, and the smell of others foods once I have finished kind of gets me at times. But, it wasn't just foods, but an increased sense of smell for lots of things! Good Luck!

Yes, I had this problem. I thought I was going nuts. I would smell things my daughter couldnt smell. A lot of the early stuff..broth, yogurt,milk..I couldnt hanlde because of the smell. I still dont do milk stuff very often. It was the texture of the milk that bothered me. It lasted a few weeks.

You are pretty new post op. It will stop after awhile. I think it lasted around 2-3 months for me, but everyone is different. Actually it still happens once in awhile but does'nt last long.
