Question:
High protein levels in urine post op. Common?
My surgery was back on April 8th and when my primary checked my urine this week it came back from the lab with very high protein levels and "bilirubins" (sp?). I haven't had a chance to speak to either him or my surgeon yet and was wondering if this is common among WLS patients. I've lost over 70 lbs and started on solids this past week. Thanks! — Robert H. Ketosis is not always a good thing. High levels of protein and bilirubin
could mean some damage to the kidneys. That's why a lot of doctors are
opposing the Atkin's diet. It's my opinion that a low carb diet is
definately the way to go but a no carb diet can be harmful. This may not
even be the case for you. I'm not trying to discourage your efforts I
think that 70lbs in a month and a half is truely incredible. Just be
careful and take care of your body. Good luck and happy losing!!!
