Question:
Feels like a lump in the back of my throat
I am 3 weeks post-op, and am having a feeling like there is a lump at the back of my throat, and it makes me gag. It is fine when I eat, but comes back shortly after. My doctor put me on a drug called DonParadon, and it seems to be helping, but I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem. — Ruth G. (posted on November 15, 2001)

Ruth,
I had the same thing happen to me about 6 weeks post op. My doctor gave me
prescription Pepcid and it went away. He didn't seem overly concerned but
said sometimes something going on in your pouch ie: too much acid, ulcer
etc can cause symptoms further up in your digestive tract. I hope it goes
away I know from experience that it's very annoying. Best of luck to you.

Ruth, are you on domperidone? That drug is used to increase gastric
motility... to move things through your stomach faster. Hope it helps... I
think many of these things that we experience early post-op go away on
their own by around month three, so hang in there!
