Question:
Do you get headaches from not being able to eat?
I am pre-op and I know that now when I get hungry and I haven't hed enough to eat in a while, my blood sugar drops and I get unbearable headaches that can only be cured by finding some food. SInce pre-ops can't eat a whole lot, I'm worried about having headaches all the time since there's not a whole lot of food to raise my blood sugar. What are your experiences? — [Anonymous] (posted on November 14, 2001)

Before surgery if my sugar dropped I would get shakey, light-head, and
edgy. I haven't had any of that since surgery and I don't feel my blood
sugar drop anymore. It's wonderful!

I to wonder about that. I get horrible headaches if I skip a meal.did you
ever go to the doctor for this? I'm preop and I'm hoping that that doesnt
happen my headaches to are cured by food.

I agree with Laura. I used to get weak and have headaches when I got too
hungry. I haven't had anything like that since surgery. Strange but great!!
Good luck and happy losing!!

For some unknown reason, I haven't had a problem, either. I was worried
about this pre-op, too. I can remember it happening one time, at 4.5
months out. I drove 5 hours at night, got 3 hours of sleep, drank a lot of
coffee, ate nothing and set up a tent at a campground with a million other
people in August. And it was HOT. I got all shakey and grumpy and weird
like I used to get without food. I ate a tuna kit (ok, half) and i was
fine. And I had to be in pretty bad shape for that to happen. Maybe your
body just plain gets used to low glucose levels, so you don't feel the
drops.
