Question:
How do I change things?
Hi, today was a big day for me. I'm afraid my eating habits are not any better. I am 3 months post op, less 76 lbs and for once, my drivers license actually shows more weight than what I actually am! To celebrate, I brought to work fresh veggies and fat free dip, low fat corn chips and fruit salsa (no fat and yummy), and grapes. Well, I couldn't stop eating that stuff. I don't feel bad about what I at (well not too bad) but the amount makes me feel like the old days and I don't want that to happen. I know it was my own will power that blew it but I couldn't help it. I have a micro pouch, which means my stomach is the size of a grape and will not stretch. I need someone to kick me or something. I do not have a support group in my town so am looking to my wls friends on line to help me behave myself. Help!! — Christine H. (posted on November 5, 2001)

Well, sorry. No beatings for you today. If this was your first
"graze" day, you're ahead of the game. Even though I never was a
grazer, there are a few days per year that I graze, because all my fave
foods are around. I'm back on the wagon the next day, because I know the
price. Back to the tiny meals again. But one day of feeding frenzy on
fruits & veggies will not damage your wt loss. Grazing daily like that
might stretch your pouch a bit. But if you did it today and do it again
Christmas Day and again Easter & 4th of July, you'll still get an A on
your report card.

Hey!!! We're only human and we have to live with these pouches
for the remainder of our lives. Food, even treats, are a necessry
part of living a good life. Every now and then....holidays, birthdays
....you just have to spluge. You certainly did it in a responsible way.
As long as you only spluge occassionally for a day, no harm will be done.
I noticed that you prepared all carbs. I think that's why you could't
stop
eating. The next time you splurge a bit, make sure you include some
protein.
Your "menu" was fine. But I'd have skipped the veggies & dip
and substituted
some oven fried chicken or just some sliced turkey or perhaps even some
cheese.
