Question:
When should I look into getting the COBRA paperwork started?
I lost my job on Oct. 12th but my exemployer is paying my insurance benefits until Jan.31st. My Hubby is self-employed without insurance. When should I get the paperwork started for COBRA? How does that work? Will it change the fact that I have a WLS date for March? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dot — Dottie W. (posted on October 23, 2001)

YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY IS SUPPOSE TO SEND YOU THE PAPERWORK TO GET COBRA
STARTED. IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN, THEY HAVE TO PROVIDE YOUR INSURANCE FOR UP
TO 18 MONTHS AT THE SAME COST REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE INSURANCE IS USED
FOR.THESE MAY HELP YOU OUT. I AM GOING THROUGH THE SAME INSURANCE PROBLEM
WITH JOB LOSS SO HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING! http://www.cobrahelp.com
