Question:
has anyone ever had this exclusion
I'm not sure yet if this is exactly how my exclusion reads in my policy book but the denial letter I received reads "your health plan does not cover the care and treatment of obesity, weight loss or dietary control, including prescribed medications and/or drugs, whether or not it is, in any case, a part of the treatment plan for another sickness. Is there any way to get around this exclusion? Please help; I'm very desperate. If anyone could give me any helpful info about this I would really appreciate it. — kim H. (posted on October 21, 2001)

Obesity and Morbid Obesity are two different diagnosis codes. They didn't
exclude treatment for Morbid Obesity. Some people have gotten around that
type of exclusion in that fashion. Also, you may want to contact Walter
Lindstrom and see what he or his wife Kelly says. The website is

"Morbid Obesity" is not obesity...it's whole different
diagnosis.
That exclusion doesn't apply.
