Question:
Fistula
What should I ask my surgeon to do to repair it? He says this is his first fistula of this type, and I am nervous. Do I need a fobi instead, or can he just sew both holes? Also, I had a slow blood leak between the pouch and the intestine, discovered 3 weeks post-op (op was 1/18/01). Could the two problems be connected? Thanks! Tina — Tina B. (posted on May 16, 2001)

A fistual is just an opening that is small in diameter, like a straw. It
can happen to all of us. I would get a second opinion to find out what
damage is done, or may be done. It just might be there for your body to
drain from one place to another. Our bodies are mysterious in what it does
to over compensate. Good Luck, and God Bless --
