Question:
Has anyone changed from a VBG to a bypass and what has been the result? It is almost
2 yrs since my VBG. I've lost 160 lbs BUT I am still vomiting everything. It has been suggested that a bypass will solve the vomiting issue. Anyone with a similiar experience who could advise me. I also need to get the vomiting under control in order to fix a hernia. Thanks for any advice out there. Mara M — Mara M. (posted on August 9, 1999)

Why are you vomiting? is becuase of the band and you are trying to eat too
much at one time? I found that to be my problem most of the time. As long
as I remembered not to over do it I was okay. I did have my VBG revised
but not because of vomiting, mine stopped working and I was gaining weight.
I had it revised to a bypass with a transected stomache. I don't vomit at
all know but the band is gone, and I am sure that was the problem, I ate
too much and the food got stuck and the only way to feel better was to get
rid of it. Good luck

I just read your question and am having the same problems as you had. I
have only had the surgery since last Feb. and vomit a lot. I haven't lost
much weight either and this is very disturbing to me. Was your weight loss
slow at first. I have lost only 40lbs
